Development of a vibration free machine structure for high-speed micro-milling center

The demand of ultra-precision micro-machine tools is growing day by due to exigent requirements miniaturized components. High accuracy, good dimensional precision and smooth surface finish are the major characteristics these machine tools. High-speed machining has been adopted increase productivity using high-speed spindles. However, tool vibration a issue in machining. Vibration significantly deteriorates quality micro-machining terms finish. This article describes design methodology closed type structure for minimization micro-milling center. rigid provided high stiffness damping capability without utilizing absorbers. models structures have generated assembled AutoCAD 3D. performance integrated was determined finite element analysis. best model selected proposed manufacturing. Additionally, simulation results were validated comparing with experimental results. Eventually, after manufacturing assembly, experiments performed it observed that amplitude approaching towards nanometer level throughout working range spindle. capable fabricate components
